European Clog Restoration

Carman’s Shoe Repair restores all kinds of shoes – even antique or collectible shoes.

On of our customers recently challenged us with the repair of a pair of wooden European clogs.  They had a fabric strap that had worn out completely, and although she didn’t wear the shoes much – they were a conversation piece – she wanted to have them restored.

First we completely removed the old strap.  To replace it, we cut a piece of belting leather in it’s natural state, and attached a new custom strap. 

Next, we would dye the leather a dark color and give it an antique finish by using a few different colors. By using a custom blend of black, green and gold, we were able to give the leather the look of an aged finish.

Our customer was very pleased with the end result.  The service fee for this type of restoration work will vary based on the complexity.  This restoration in particular was $95.
